Tom- Middle Ages
Tom: So Jerry what do you think about the afterlife?
Jerry: That really doesn't concern people of my time, we like to focus on the present more.
Tom: Man I sure would love to have that mindset, but our world is struggling so much because of God's punishment.
Jerry: Don't think that way, God isn't punishing anoyone on this earth. You should learn from your predecessors, the Greeks and Romans, like I have.
Tom: It's hard to settle down and focus on that stuff when life is so full of war, famine, and plague like it is now, but thanks for the advice.
Jerry: I'm sorry to hear that Tom, but after the great awakening I have seen everything in a whole new light. Humanism and the renaissance public figures have totally enlightened me and my education.
Tom(Middle): Have you thought about what your life will look like in 20 years?
Jerry(Renaissance): Nope, I prefer to live in the moment. Also, I like to look at the past and learn from it.
Tom(Middle): The past means nothing anymore. Have you not heard the quote, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and live today"?
Jerry(Renaissance): Yeah, I want to live life, day by day, and not worry about what could happen or what has already happened.
Tom(Middle): I believe in the feudal system and the catholic church, it'll never be changed EVER.
Jerry(Renaissance): It has already changed, the feudal system is over...
Joseph(Middle Ages)- You know I lost all interest into learning about the past.
Manuel(renaissance)-you know maybe you should learn about the past to learn from the past. That's what I believe it makes life much easier.
Joseph- People already proved that life is too short and its a waste of time. All I'm worried about is what the after life has for me;will iget a reward to heaven or a punishment to hell.
Manuel-You should be less concerned about that and accept the existence of God.
Joseph- The future was the harsh present, peasants working on land.....
Manuel-maybe you should look for help and figure out a institution for law, politics and art, but even for moral guidance.
Joseph- The society was made up of just Lords, priest, and peasants which was meant to never end....its not changeable....Ever.
Manuel- Try to reflect a society that is more interested in worldly matters.
Mike = Middle Ages David = Renaissance
Mike: Now that the dark times are over, we need a fresh start. Right now is just the space of time until we die and go to heaven.
David: No, we should think less of life and more about our lives now.
Mike: We should never look back and continue to deal with now and the future.
David: No your wrong again. We should look into the past like Rome so that we can get information about law politics and philosophy.
Mike: I disagree we should create a new society not based off of the path so that we do not fall down the path of failure again.
David: I think we are gonna have to split, because i think we should study and do what civilizations did in the past but fix what they did wrong to avoid the path of failure.
JIMMY(middle): what do you people of the "Renaissance" believe in?
BOB (renaissance): we think less of death and more of life..what about you?
JIMMY(middle): we think the future means reward in heaven and punishment in hell.
BOB(renaissance): do you guys have social classes, if so what are you?
JIMMY(middle): yes we do have social classes.... and im sadly a peasant...
BOB(renaissance): its okay ....atleast that has changed...
jake- My life is short and i’m not sure if i will live any longer.
shawn- To bad because i’m from the Renaissance so i think less of death.
jake- we don’t believe in being reborn either.
shawn- my culture does believe in being reborn with intellectual attitudes!!
jake- i wanna live in that culture! we have priest and monks and focus on religion.
shawn- we would rather believe in earthly fulfillment and prep for after life.
jake- sounds like a dream all we do is value religion all the time!!
Jerry(renaissance): Uh... you okay?
T: I'm just stressed over whether or not I'm going to heaven...
J: It's going to be a long time before you die... You should focus more on the now.
T: Life is too short to do what I must... I've been created as a farmer and will always be one. Life is as short as the crops I harvest.
J: You can make yourself what you want to be. You are unique and can become what you want to.
T: I thought you didn't praise people because it praises God's creation..?
J: No, no, no. I'm praising you as a creator of your own life.
T: Mind blown. Maybe my drab life isn't just God punishing me for the bad things I have done!
Tom(Mid): Ugh, stop thinking about the past, it's over and it was horrible and I never want to think about it again.
Jerry(Ren): But you have to think about the past sometimes, I wouldn't be anywhere today if I didn't use the past to help me move forward today.
Tom: That doesn't even make any sense. Oh what do you also think that men are creators, haha.
Jerry: As a matter of fact, yes I do believe that we should praise men as creators, but also accept the existence of God.
Tom: Dude, you're wild, to praise a man is to praise God himself. I enjoy living my life being controlled by the feudal law and the Catholic Church. It is just easier that way.
Jerry: Tom, come on. Man's duty is to enjoy life soberly and to serve our community actively, not be controlled by a harsh law.
